Flying Probe, Bed of Nails
Saturn Improves Quality and Quick-Turns
PCB Fabricator Adds Mania Acceler8
New Fixtureless Electrical Test Method
Boasts Speed of Bed-of-Nails; Cost of Flying Probe Saturn Electronics Corp. recently added the Acceller8 Tester to its Quality and Reliability Department. Combining an Electrical Test Scanner with Loc8/Ultim8 increases the flying probe productivities by a factor of 10. Dedicated to quality since its inception, Saturn continues with its steadfast reinvestment program that is always aimed at increasing capabilities and quality while lowering cost.
Passing Savings to the Customer “The automatic software alignment saves time and money. No tooling pins. No holes. The image intrinsically aligns to the CAD data,” says Yash Sutariya, VP of Saturn. “This increased capability is going to ultimately lower costs and increase profit…profit that will be reinvested into more new equipment.
acceler8 Electrical Test Scanner: Combined with Loc8/Ultim8 increases flying probe productivities by a factor of 10 Scanning area 20" x 24" Probe mark free Built-on proven capacitive test technology of Flying probe testers Over 1,000 test probes
New technology accelerates flying probers by a factor of up to 10 (depending on PUT) The acceler8 is an electro mechanical scanner, scanning at a constant speed, independent of pitch and density and size. After scanning both sides, typically 90-100% of test points are tested. Only 0-10% remain to be tested with a flying prober.
Automatic software alignment Alignment is done with software. No cumbersome tooling pins and holes. The image is simply aligned to the CAD data after the scan. No pad damage. The scan consists of thousands of 0.1mm diameter probes, gentle as a human hair, brushing over the PCB, producing an electrical picture as they scan.
Test Floor Integration Data preparation using world-class UCAM software provides seamless data transfer between the acceler8, the flying prober, and the repair station. Barcode tracking provide a risk-free testing environment.
